GrindFest is an idle fantasy RPG where you write C# bots to play your heroes. You can fight and loot by hand, or press Edit Scripts to open your hero's script in the bundled Visual Studio Code and code the bot to hunt monsters, pick up loot, level up and craft. Progress comes from items, skills and Prestige bonuses.

It trains C# basics such as methods, arguments and classes, and then reading an API to automate a game loop. The official tutorials start from zero and say no programming experience is needed, so it suits beginners.
It is free on Steam for Windows and is in early access, and the developers warn that bugs can cost you progress. It is single-player with no account beyond Steam. The official site also links to a browser version.
