Hacker Fables

Fight through a roguelike dungeon using Vim motions, visual blocks and s///

Hacker Fables is a roguelike played with Vim keys in a browser terminal. You descend through Bell Labs fighting code snakes that grow stronger with their Python version, with one life per run and procedurally generated levels. Movement uses hjkl with counts such as 5j, and Shift plus a direction runs.

About Hacker Fables

Combat is built on Vim ideas. The Modal Shotgun fires from an insert-style mode or from Visual Block, where you select a group of enemies with motions like ^, $, gg and G. Magic scrolls run s/// substitutions, and the dot key repeats your last action. It suits developers who know basic Vim and want to make motions and counts automatic.

It is free, open source under MIT and runs in the browser through xterm.js, with no account. The maker calls it alpha, so expect rough edges and changes between releases.
