Query Noir is a detective game where you play a night-shift technician who solves murder cases by querying the city's databases, such as guest lists, parking logs and phone records. You do not type code. You build each question from readable blocks and dropdowns, and the game shows the matching SQL and a plain English sentence next to it.

About Query Noir
There are sixteen cases, each a small hand-made dataset. New ideas such as filters, ranges, sorting, joins, grouping and empty values arrive one at a time, so by the end you can read SQL with JOIN, GROUP BY and IS NULL. It suits complete beginners and players who like deduction games.
It is a paid game on Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux, available in eight languages, with no timers or fail states.
