Bitburner is an idle game about hacking in a dark cyberpunk world. You play an unknown hacker who breaks into linked servers to earn money and build skills. You can do things by hand, but the main idea is to write JavaScript scripts that automate the work for you. There are also augmentations, a stock market and minigames.

The game teaches real JavaScript, from simple loops to larger scripts that use the game's own API. The Steam page says a basic programming background helps but is not required.
