Hacknet is a hacking game you play through a terminal. You start getting automatic emails from the failsafe of Bit, a hacker who has died. You follow his instructions to find out what happened to him. To do that, you type commands to connect to other computers, break in and look through their files. The commands are based on real UNIX commands.

About Hacknet
The game gives you a feel for working in a shell and moving around a network, with little hand-holding. It suits people new to the command line and those who already use one. It is a story game, not a real security course.
It is a paid game from Team Fractal Alligator on Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux. The Labyrinths expansion adds a new chapter, and free Extensions tools let players make their own campaigns.
