git-tutor
Practice branching, merging and rebasing in guided terminal levels
git-tutor is a command-line tool for learning git, inspired by vimtutor. In guided mode, each level gives you a description, a hint, a goal and a starting repository, and you use git-style commands to reach the goal. There is also a sandbox for free practice and a freestyle mode where you turn one repository into another.

About git-tutor
It focuses on branch and history commands such as commit, checkout, switch, branch, merge, rebase, cherry-pick, revert and reset. You do not need to write real file content, so you can focus on how the commit history changes. It suits beginners.
You install it with a script on Linux or Windows, then run it in your terminal. Levels come as plugin files. It is free and open source under the MIT license.
On Breakpoint since 23 Oct 2026.
